Rakuten Kobo launches Kobo Plus in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark

Hi authors, great news! We have launched Kobo Plus in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, giving book lovers unlimited access to hundreds of thousands of eBook and audiobook titles for a monthly subscription fee.

For those who need a refresher, Kobo Plus is an all-you-can-read subscription service. Subscribers pay a flat monthly fee to read and listen to unlimited books, for as long as they are enrolled in the program. Authors and publishers are paid based on a revenue-share model (you can find a breakdown of how payment works here).

• No exclusivity required: There’s no exclusivity needed to participate in Kobo Plus. We want to empower you to run your business independently, and to decide where you want to sell your books.
• No time limit: There’s no time requirement with Kobo Plus! You can try submitting your whole catalogue, just some of your backlist, or maybe just the first books in your series, to see what works best for you.
• Choose which titles to include: At Kobo, we want our indie authors to have the freedom to make their own business decisions. There is no restriction on how many or how few books you enrol in Kobo Plus.
• Increase your earnings: Our sales data suggests that having your books in Kobo Plus has a positive impact on overall author revenue.

We are offering Kobo Writing Life authors and publishers the ability to bulk opt-in titles. This means you don’t need to take any action on your side, we will do all the work for you.
