Hello writers!

While I’m sure we’re all sick and tired of being reminded that we’re living through “unprecedented times”, it doesn’t make it any less true. This past year has been wild. And when real life starts to make even the most outrageous CW drama look tame, it’s bound to have an effect on our day to day lives, especially when it comes to how we express ourselves creatively.

We know through talking to some of our community members and having discussions amongst ourselves that being creative during a time of crisis can be both challenging and cathartic. While some writers have been thriving during lockdown, a lot of us have found the real world to be too distracting to focus on a project for very long (looking at you, unfinished NaNoWriMo manuscript). And both are totally normal responses!

This is where you come in. We’re hoping to put together a series highlighting how creativity and writing has changed throughout 2020 and moving into 2021, and we would love your input. If you have a few minutes to spare, please fill out this form and let us know how your writing process has changed during this past year.  What has “being creative” looked like for you during the pandemic? What advice would you give those who are having a tough time getting their word counts in?

Through this series we hope to highlight not only great advice for other writers, but also how wonderful the indie author community is. Things have been tough lately, but even though we’re all locked in our houses for the foreseeable future, it doesn’t mean we’re in this alone.
