Kobo Writing Life is a free self-publishing portal that allows authors and publishers to easily create, edit, and upload eBooks and audiobooks to Kobo. When you choose to distribute your content through Kobo Writing Life (KWL), you’re making it available to millions of readers in over 200 countries. You are choosing to take advantage of Kobo’s strong retail partners around the world – we power the digital book side of many of the world’s most renowned bookstores.
If you own the digital rights to your content – be it one title or a hundred titles – we encourage you to consider distributing your content through Kobo.
We’ve made the process to upload your book as simple and pain-free as possible – after all, the hard part is done, and your book is written, edited and ready to go!
The first step to joining KWL is setting up your account. It’s very simple, but you can find a step-by-step guide here.
Before you can start publishing, you need to enter your banking information so we can make sure your earnings find their way to you! Authors earn between 45% and 70% of the list price on all titles sold. Here is the guide on how to set up your payment details: How do I add my bank information?
Once your account is set up and ready to go, it’s time to start publishing your Kobo debut! We have a free conversion tool that will convert your word document into an ePub for you. For more tips and tricks on successful metadata, optimizing your pricing, or on how to make a great cover, the experts at KWL have some great advice for you.
Congrats! Your book has been published on KWL and will appear on Kobo and on our partner stores around the world within 24 to 72 hours.
Now it’s time to start selling – you want to make sure your book stands out among the millions of titles on the Kobo store. To make this a little easier, we’ve created the Kobo Promotions Tool, which is built into the Kobo author dashboard. This gives writers the opportunity to apply for dozens of Kobo promotions – and also gets your book cover in front of our merchandisers!
