Hello writers, and welcome to the official planning phase of NaNoWriMo! Throughout the month of October, we’ll be sharing tips and advice to make this NaNoWriMo a successful one. Today we’ll be covering the first, and possibly the most important step to preparing for NaNo: commitment.
Of course a big part of committing to NaNoWriMo is signing up for the challenge (which you can do here), and if you want to write with the KWL community, we recommend signing up to our weekly write-ins too (which you can do here). But committing to NaNo is not only about signing up, it’s also about mentally committing to completing the challenge and being ready to commit a large part of your November to writing.
NaNoWriMo is a self-proclaimed “wildly ambitious writing challenge”, but it’s also a great opportunity to face down that blank page and get that first draft rolling with the support of a huge community of fellow writers. So whether this is your first attempt at NaNo or your tenth, whether you’re about to try writing your first novel or you’re a seasoned pro, committing yourself to the challenge is the first step. Register for NaNo and start to get pumped about the exciting journey you’re about to embark on. It’s going to be tough, but we’re all in it together.
Be sure to follow us on social media for more NaNoWriMo updates, tips, and ways to support one another!
