Aaaaand the big day is here at last! Here at Kobo we have an intrepid team of fifteen staff members (our biggest yet!) attempting the NaNoWriMo challenge.  We’ll be sharing weekly updates on our progress, breakthroughs, and roadblocks. Share your NaNo experience in the comments! Why did you decide to participate this year?

Isabelle Knott C++ Developer

I’ve done nano twice before, but it was always when I was in school and very busy. I thought I’d try again now that I have more free time.

Laura Granger, Author Engagement Coordinator, Kobo Writing Life

I’ve always loved writing, but haven’t made the time for it since high school. I’m hoping that NaNoWrimo will put the pressure on and get me writing again!

Elaine Malit Big Data Intern

It’s one of the most effective ways of getting me to stop plotting, and to start actually writing.

Mark Leslie, Director, Kobo Writing Life

KoboWriMo is a great way for writers to focus on the most important element of writing: Getting your butt in the chair and your fingers on the keyboard. Writing begets more writing. KoboWriMo and NaNoWriMo allow authors to focus on that and I love the thrill of writing with so many other like-minded and spirited writers.

Wendy Reid QA Analyst

Hoping third time is the charm and I can finally finish my nano novel!

Hufsa Tahir Author Services, Kobo Writing Life

I’m doing NaNo this year because I’m hoping the energy around it (and the pressure) will get me back into writing again.

Anna Bendiy Publisher Relations Coordinator

I’m hoping doing NaNo for the first time will remind me that I can still write. It’s time to get the stories out of my head and onto the page!

Christine Munroe Sr. Manager, Kobo Writing Life

I hope committing myself to NaNoWriMo this year will help me break through some self-doubt and move from identifying as I can write to I am a writer.
