It happens all the time when you re-read something you have previously written. You look at a phrase and wonder if perhaps you were too vague in expressing something; perhaps you were even too boring.

The folks at Custom-Writing have gathered 28 of the most common words that are often too boring to use and have selected a number of alternatives you may be able to use instead to make your prose a bit more specific or perhaps just varied, rather than using the same words repeatedly. We’re not saying that you should get rid of those boring words altogether. But changing things up a little bit can make a big difference.
