Have you ever wondered how it would be like to finish 1500 words in less than an hour? I have. As writers, we tend to want to improve our lifestyle little by little, by making progress each and every day. Some of you would like to improve a vocabulary to make your writing more complex. Some of you hope for an increase in revenue.

And some of you would like to improve your writing speed. How would it be if you can be done with the tasks in a matter of 2 hours each day? Well, in today’s article we’ll talk about few important writing strategies. Those are meant to give you a big writing speed boost. They are useless if you only read them, so make sure to apply everything you learn. Let’s take a closer look.

Strategy #1 – Schedule Your Writing & Maintain Discipline

First of all, you have to plan. By creating a solid writing schedule you’re one step ahead of the game. In order for this to actually work, begin by making an important commitment to yourself that no matter what, you’ll stick to your schedule. Even if mundane tasks pop in, try to minimalize them and get back to work as soon as you can.

Trello is an awesome tasks organizer app that allows you to plan everything ahead. I use it all the time, helps me keep organized and disciplined. By the way, the moment you keep looking at a schedule you’re starting to improve your subconscious thoughts up to the point where it is no longer hard to stick to a program.

Strategy #2 – Write In The Morning

Did you know that most of the successful writers have a common morning routine? Well, they write. They wake up early, do their quick morning routine, and they start writing before anything else.

No e-mails, no social media, no nothing. Just writing. By the way – take advantage of this awesome Chrome App called Stayfocusd. This app lets you limit the time you spend on certain websites. It helps you eliminate all the distractions in the morning. So you’ll stay focused and do your most important tasks really early and quick.

Think about it. Early mornings are quiet. You’re full of energy after sleeping. If you want to write faster, why not put your powerful morning energy into a meaningful task? It kind of makes sense. I’ve tried it. And it does wonders. In fact, it’s actually 6:53 AM while I’m typing these words, and it’s going just great!

Strategy #3 – Outline Before You Start Writing

Instead of going freestyle, take a few minutes and take a closer look at what you’re about to write. Put down all your ideas, and then create your outline. By using an outline, you’re making your job way easier because you’re only going to follow a roadmap.

Your story is already there; you just have to type the words in an established order. Instead of thinking it all on the spot, better look at your sketches and follow the ideas until you’re done. When an idea is written, cut it off your list, and focus entirely on the next one. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Strategy #4 – Don’t Edit While You Write

Here’s a cool trick. What if you were not allowed to use the “Backspace” button while writing your entire book? For some writers, it could become really painful, because they’re extremely used to keep deleting words. For some of you, it might be a blessing. This strategy requires a lot of effort. You should really abstain from deleting words.

You keep writing, even if you see mistakes. They will be taken care of at the end. Just focus on writing. Put all your ideas and write them really quickly. That’s your first draft. Then, go over and edit the mistakes you see, all while adding new ideas and words.

Conclusion

Writing, like many other skills, can be improved. Today we’ve talked about some really effective strategies that will put your writing speed on fire. Of course, if these strategies can’t seem to work for you after several tries, you may want to outsource your content.

Also, repetition is the key to success. It’s not enough to apply these strategies for just a few days. Try making them habits, and keep doing them until they become a part of you. Your writing lifestyle will become way easier and pleasurable. And don’t forget…never quit trying, and give your best in everything you write.
