Can you give any insight into how the books are selected? Is there a submission process where I could enter my book for consideration?
Great question, Michael.
We don’t currently have a submission process, but the Kobo team behaves in much the same way that a bookstore would gather their staff picks – we scan through new and backlist titles that are published to Kobo via Kobo Writing Life, keeping an eye out for a combination of factors that catch our eye, such as intriguing covers, sales of previous titles from the same author, writing style, compelling synopsis. We also take word of mouth and a series of other elements into effect — like good old fashioned serendipity. (For example, we checked out your book just now it looks quite appealing – http://store.kobobooks.com/en-CA/ebook/convergence-21.) We’ll certainly be taking a closer look at it. 😉
BTW, we also LOVE the fact that, on your website, you include a link to all retailers that carry the book, including Kobo — and not just that “world’s longest river” place. We ADORE authors who ensure their readers have optimal choice and recognize the importance of being available to the broadest possible global readership. Nicely done, sir!
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, and also for checking out Convergence! 🙂
And yeah, I definitely want to hit the most readers possible, rather than targeting a single, specific outlet. Whoever wants to read my book should be able to do so on whichever platform(s) they prefer, and I’m happy to link to all of those different options.
Thanks again!
